Rewarding Hard Work.  Recognizing Leadership.

Hard work and community involvement have always been valued in rural Manitoba.  The Capturing Opportunities Awards were instituted to honour rural Mantiobans who show the hard work, dedication and leadership necessary to make their communities and regions a better place to live.

Four awards will be presented.   (click on the highlighted award below to access nomination forms):

Outstanding Community Leadership – for an individual who has made significant and notable contributions to the betterment of their community or region; who has served as a catalyst for positive action and has exhibited the highest standard of community leadership, dedication, ability and innovation.

Rural Youth Achievement – for an individual, association, business or municipality whose activities enable youth to take action on important issues that affect their lives.

Economic Development Innovation (Community) Award – for an organization or municipality whose actions illustrate innovation in community development; build on the resources of the community; respond to challenges and/or opportunities and demonstrate outcomes in rural economic development.

Economic Development Innovation (Corporate) Award - for businesses whose corporate actions fully meet the award’s criteria:  to illustrate innovation in community economic development through cooperation with community partners; to build on the resources of the community; to respond to changes, challenge and/or opportunities and to demonstrate outcomes in rural economic development.

Award presentations will be made at the Capturing Opportunities 2010 Hydro Celebration Banquet on Thursday, April 22, 2010 in the UCT Pavilion at the Keystone Centre in Brandon. Those honoured will receive a commemorative artistic glass award and $1,000 cash to contribute to a community organization of their choice.
