Capturing Opportunities includes the following events:
1. Capturing Opportunities Conference features 5 renowned speakers on leading edge topics of interest to business and community leaders who want to be inspired by world class speakers with innovative ideas to incorporate into their business and/or community. Over 12 breakout workshops provide conference participants with a host of options.
2. Youth Events
Young people from schools all across Manitoba can take part in these events. These are the business leaders of tomorrow!

- Manitoba Research Institute Young Entrepreneurs Challenge
3. Great Manitoba Food Fight (Pioneer Lounge) Thursday, April 22 is the date for the return of this popular event which is an opportunity for food entrepreneurs throughout Manitoba to present their food products to a panel of judges and compete for recognition and assistance in bringing their products to market.
4. Entrepreneur Boot Camp - Manitoba entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas in this exciting, new two-day Caputuring Opportunities event. Competitors in this unique contest spend Wednesday learning how to perfect their business pitch in a workshop with Rob Warren of the Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship (U of M) and Chad Hughes, winner of the 2009 Manitoba Venture Challenge. On Thursday, they pitch their business idea to panels of business professionals and compete for three prize pckages which are a combination of cash and business services of up to $2000.
5. Manitoba Hydro Celebration Banquet (UCT Pavilion, Doors open at 5:00, Thursday, April 22) This gala evening has become a tradition at Capturing Opportunities to enjoy good food, good discussions, and to celebrate the achievements of: rural youth; community volunteers, organizations and businesses; and local food entrepreneurs. All Capturing Opportunities and Youth Awards will be presented at this Celebration Banquet. Take in our featured speaker, inspiring lcoal entrepreneur, Chad Hughes.
6. Bob Johansen Leadership Workshop - Brandon University's Rural Development Institute is pleased to bring Bob Johansen in for this afternoon workshop, an essential for seasoned leaders and first-time managers. Join Johansen for a facilitated workshop, where he unveils ten critical new skills for future leders. This workshop is not included in conference fee - see Conference Schedule for more information.
7. Economic Developers Association of Manitoba Spring Forum (Wednesday, April 21)
Training is included in the conference fees for EDAM members, or can be purchased seperately for non - members.
