
The Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth, “Student Business Plan Competition” is open to all students from grades 11 and 12 across the province and will be of particular interest to those students who are interested in business development and business related courses. It is a one day competition (Friday, April 23 9:00 - 12:00) which provides students the opportunity to create a marketing plan, produce a set of financials and realize the value of strategic planning. Students are divided up into teams and, working with facilitators, they develop a business concept, create a business plan and present it to a panel of judges. · JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT – “Entrepreneur Elimination”
Cash is at stake! Teams from the Junior Achievement “Company Program” pitch their best business ideas to a jury of successful Manitoba entrepreneurs in pursuit of a cash prize. Schools, from throughout rural Manitoba who have participated in the Company Program, select their best teams to come forward for this competition. Nerve-wracking fun is at hand as some of Manitoba’s brightest young business people try to sway a majority of panelists and audience members to award them a cash prize. Thursday, April 22 from 1:00 - 4:00.

· MANITOBACHAMBER OF COMMERCE – “Young Entrepreneurs Challenge”
The Young Entrepreneurs Challenge features the top teams from Manitoba schools who have competed in this year-long competition learning how business, planning and technology work together.
Capturing Opportunities is also the host for the Inter-Provincial Challenge, where Manitoba and Saskatchewan's top teams compete against each other for prize money and prairie bragging rights. Awards are presented at the Capturing Opportunities Annual Gala Banquet.

At the Capturing Opportunities Annual Gala Banquet (Thursday, April 22) awards will be presented to the winners of two provincial student business competitions - Junior Achievement’s “Company Program” and the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce’s “Young Entrepreneurs Challenge”. The banquet will feature delicious local foods and guest speaker, Ben Berry who is a young entrepreneur “phenom” and one of the creative minds behind the Dove Real Beauty campaign. Ben’s message about the power of young entrepreneurs and the opportunities for youth in the world of business will truly inspire you!
