Great Manitoba Food Fight 2012

The Great Manitoba Food Fight (GMFF) is your opportunity to compete for product development awards valued at $15,000, $10,000 and $5000 for first, second or third place finish in the competition.  Prizes can be used for a variety of expenses such as research and development; recipe refinement; package design; marketing; and food safety and handling training.

The GMFF is new for 2012 with many exciting changes.

To start, the GMFF 2012 will be partnering with Assiniboine Community College's Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts (MICA) in Brandon and the event will be held at the ACC/MICA campus.

The GMFF 2012 is going to move beyond only a one-day event.  Only 10 applicants will be selected to move forward to the competition.  Applicants chosen to compete will have an opportunity to work with student chefs at MICA in the months prior to event day - April 24, 2012

On event day, each of the 10 competitors will present a sample of their product to a panel of expert judges.  Each competitor will have 25 minutes to "pitch" their new product idea and convince the judges why they should win one of the product development awards.  This will also give competitors time to answer questions from the judges.

The event on April 24, 2012 will be followed by a business reception where each of the 10 competitors will have an opportunity to network with professionals from the grocery, restaurant and food service industries plus other industry experts.  This event alone could do a lot to promote yourself and your product.
