The Economic Developers Association of Manitoba (EDAM) Spring Forum will include a half-day session on Regional Approaches to Economic Development with Brock Dickinson. This session will explore how the changing realities of economic development are prompting higher levels of regional co-operation, and how Canadian economic development structures are evolving to reflect the new reality. The session will explore how regions are shaped and defined; how economic development organizations co-operate across regions; and why economic developers increasingly focus on regional perspectives. The session will also look at how to manage diverse stakeholder expectations across broad regions, and how diverging stakeholder expectations can be met. Drawing on his economic development work in communities across Canada and more than 50 countries, presenter Brock Dickinson will have session participants thinking in new directions, exploring novel concepts, and even laughing out loud.
Gerald Cathcart will also be providing an overview of Brandon's Business Retention and Expansion Strategy, sharing both the process and lessons learned. The day concludes with a panel of economic development officers discussing job descriptions, structures and experiences of economic development delivery in Manitoba.
Training is included in Conference Registration for EDAM members. Non-members registration for training is $125.
